The Alonso Luis Talavera hand painted ceramic platter shown here in the Imperial design is the larger of the two available measuring 483mm in length. The very generous capacity makes it ideally suited for larger parties or for serving whole decorated fish. It can be used equally well for cold meat or cheese platters, and when not in use, as a decorative item on a dresser. The flowing fluted edge is bordered by a dark blue rim and features the floral motif, interspersed with a lattice background, which matches the dining plates. Inside the outer decoration is a yellow border with serpentine pattern, which leads into the centre of the platter which contains the Imperial design quarter florets surrounded by subdued blue flowers, and a central floral motif.
