The Alonso Luis Talavera hand painted ceramic soup tureen shown here in the Botanero Ingles design is known in Mexico as a Sopera. This dish is both impressive and elegant and has the same Mexican feel to it as the cazuela. It would look perfectly at home in a stately home, gallery or other grand building, this dish is a piece of art but like all Alonso Luis pieces it maintains its practicality. Although primarily designed for soup the imaginative cook will find many other uses for this impressive dish. Handles on either side of the dish balance its proportions and also assist in ease of movement. Decorated with hand painted floral and blue motifs on both the dish and the lid, the soup tureen also has a small delicate pattern in the centre of the lid and below the motifs on the main dish. The two handles on either side of the tureen match the deep blue border of the lid.
